In designing Iyashi House in West Java’s lively capital of Bandung, local architecture and interior design practice Pranala Associates explored the ways that a contemporary Indonesian home can incorporate and reflect Indonesians’ close relationship with nature, and the result is a contemporary structure for tropical courtyard living. Inspired by the green nuance and the lake facing the house, Iyashi House is an architectural response in maximizing the potential of the surrounding nature. The boundaries between architectural elements and nature are also made to fade.
